Laser Surgery

Using our carbon dioxide surgical LASER allows us to be more accurate, because it only
acts upon targeted tissue and the normal tissue (as close as a tenth of a millimeter
away) unaffected. The LASER is so precise that we can perform surgeries in and around
the eyes, ears and mouth, procedures that would have been very difficult, if not
impossible without a LASER. All of our conventional surgeries, such as spaying, neutering
and declawing are now performed using LASER technology.

The cat declawing procedure most clearly illustrates the difference between LASER and
conventional surgical techniques that require the use of a stainless steel scalpel blade.
With the LASER Declaw Procedure (LDP), cats do not require the customary tight
bandaging required with the conventional procedure, and they wake up from the
anesthesia with minimal pain or discomfort, as evidenced by the fact that they
immediately walk on the operated feet.

Many people are very apprehensive about anesthesia, especially for older pets. Some
procedures that typically required general anesthesia can now be performed with merely
a local anesthetic. We can now offer an alternative that in many cases eliminates
post-operative hospitalization, increases the safety and comfort for the pet, and
minimizes post-surgical home care.

We have been providing state-of-the-art care for our patients since 1979. We believe
that offering LASER surgery is consistent with our hospital´s mission "We strive to
provide the highest quality of care possible so that we may not only alleviate suffering,
we may prevent it as well."
